160M Loading Coil for use 

with standard CB Whip

       

Wind 174 turns on a 3 inch drain pipe, #14 gauge wire, insulated. Put a 9 ft whip on top of that and you have about a 1:1 match over most of the 160M band.  

The arc you see below is real... 500 watts at 1850 and voice peaks and the arc appears. I find a capacitance hat of about a foot is needed and even then arcs will develop occasionally.
